This blog chronicles an inquiry into the minds and hearts of 30 leaders who serve, to discover what motivates, engages and sustains them. I am grateful to each of these leaders for their generosity of time and spirit, and the shared insight and wisdom that will inspire and incite other leaders to serve.

An earlier foray into leadership interviews took place back in 2002 and resulted in Leading Coherently published in 2005. In this research 36 leaders, noted for their effectiveness and results, were asked about their formation as leaders, their performance and sustainability. Their responses revealed a coherence between core values, congruent action and aligned outcomes. These leaders were notable for their investment in the capacity of others and resulting magnitude of the results they achieved.
The Research
This research began in the summer of 2010 with a pilot interview with Lisa Calderone Stewart, a remarkably selfless youth leader in the City of Milwaukee. A graduate of Cardinal Stritch's Doctoral Program in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service, Lisa made an indelible mark on the youth of Milwaukee and has created a lasting legacy insuring that her work will continue through Tomorrow's Promise.
